The Art of Manifesting in Life

The biggest trick I learned about manifesting was changing my mindset from fear and scarcity mode to love and abundance mode. What I mean by this is we often move through day to day activities motivated by a lot of fear: “I need to be out of debt,” I can’t afford….,” “Why can’t I find the right partner?” “I need more money,” “I need more happiness in my life,” etc. One of the most popular catch phrases in manifesting culture is “energy goes where the mind flows.” The Universe grants us what we spend time thinking of – which means, if you are thinking negative thoughts, or thoughts filled with fear and scarcity, the Universe gives you more of that because it doesn’t discern positive from negative. It merely let’s like attract like. So the adage “be careful what you wish for” is true because what we spend time thinking about, manifests in our reality. The best practice to start creating the life you want is to create affirmations + intentions in the positive, as if they are already happening. Doing this from a positive place of love allows us to attract like energy because the way you feel is actually what does the attracting. So, for instance, instead of focusing on how much debt you have and letting this scare you, retrain you brain to focus first on how you will feel when you have more money. Imagine the things you will do, or the bills you will pay off. Visualize your bank account with the amount you want in it; call up the feeling of relief and happiness you’ll feel when you have more money. Try to involve all the senses as you picture yourself happy with more money – let yourself feel excited and carefree. The reason why all of these steps are key is because of the way in which manifesting works: like attacks like, so you will attract more situations and circumstances that embody the way you’re currently feeling. This is why it is most important to first evoke feelings of joy and happiness and then to manifest positively, so that you will attract happy, desired outcomes. Use these steps to manifest whatever it is that you’re wanting to attract in your life.

To create the life you’ve always wanted, focus on these three areas of Manifesting:

Mind

Tell that negative little voice to butt out! You know the voice I’m talking about, the one that fills you with doubt when you’re having a happy moment, or makes you think you can’t accomplish whatever it is that you want to do. Resist the temptation to get angry at it, because the voice itself comes from a place of fear, so adding more fear/ego/anger to it will only feed it and make it grow. When I was a kid, there was always this older kid on the playground named Alex, who would always magically appear out of thin air somehow and be the voice of doom and doubt for whatever it was that I was trying to accomplish. Be it a home run, a jump off the swings, or a backflip. There was Alex saying “you’re gonna get hurt” or “you’re not gonna make it.” As soon as he would utter those words, I would side-eye him, smirk with a head tilt + eye roll and shout “watch me!” I want you to treat that little voice like I did with Alex. Treat it like a kid on the playground (of life) who wants to make you feel like you can’t do it and all you have to tell it is, “watch me.”

Visualize! I cannot stress enough how important it is to write down your goals and spend about 1-2 minutes per goal visualizing the outcome and how you’ll feel achieving your goals. Do this as you wake up and before bed, daily. Create a list of goals you want to achieve in the next week; the next month; 6 months; 1 year; 5 years; 10 years; and beyond.

Body

Treat your body like a temple. Take care of it, get plenty of rest, eat right, + carve out some sacred, uninterrupted time for yourself.

Meditate! Meditating centers the mind, soul and body. If you’re going to be creating the life you want through visualization and positive affirmations, you’re going to have to know how to quiet your mind and center/ground your thoughts. If you have trouble focusing because of racing thoughts, start with just 5 minutes in the morning and before bed. Once you get the hang of 5 minutes, increase it to 10 minutes and so on. Everyone is different, but I find it’s helpful to be comfortable and relaxed, with my phone off. I sit on a comfy pillow on the floor, sitting up straight, with my eyes closed, with meditation music playing softly in the background.

Soul

Be kind to yourself. It takes time to grasp this concept, so don’t give into fear and beat yourself up if it doesn’t seem to be working right away. Manifesting is a very ancient tool, discussed in almost every religion and spiritual practice. It’s been around since the beginning of time because it works, once you get it to work for you. Practice, patience, and positivity are the keys to making it work! Be kind, be loving and be grateful to others and yourself and you will start seeing the results of what manifesting can do! Remember to appreciate what you already have because if you’re not happy with all that you have now, what makes you think that having more will alleviate your feeling of lack? Show gratitude and more great things show up in your life because you are showing the universe that you feel you have abundance, so it will attract more abundance to you! 🙂
